Operation: Hammer of Righteousness

Written by Fab on January 3, 2012

I am taking the new year as an occasion to kick myself swiftly in the behind and to attack some stuff that I have pushed on the ever-growing "to do" pile for way too long. All of this should have been done at some point or other in 2011 and now I've had it with the slacking and I'm finally doing it. Since I've been reading a lot of Warhammer 40K in recent times, I've dubbed this project Operation: Hammer of Righteousness to give the whole thing sufficient kickass-ness. As part of this undertaking I will be picking up a lot of Sixgun-related loose ends. The objectives are as follows:

  1. Sort out the Sixgun Forum — I will reorganise the forum according to the fields of interest that our shows cover. I will also do away with posting feedback threads for each individual show's episodes; I figure the listeners will start a topic on something if they have feedback about it.
  2. Get the next Planetfall out of the door — I want to release the next BoW: Planetfall episode as soon as possible.
  3. Import the Linux Outlaws episodes from the old site — I have to finally move the older Linux Outlaws episodes from the old site to this one.
  4. Import the old blog posts  — There's still a ton of old blog posts I need to bring over to this site as well.
  5. Upgrade the servers — the Sixgun servers are due for an upgrade and I want to move them from CentOS to Debian. This is a huge undertaking but it has to be done. When I migrated to CentOS, I had no idea that the distro has no supported upgrade path and I'm now paying the price for not having done my research thoroughly back then.

All of this is a lot of work but I can't really push it away much further, I have to get all of this done. I just hope I can actually do it in a reasonable amount of time. I'm counting on the dogged determination of the Imperial Fists to see me through!

If you have some feedback on this, feel free to comment in this Google+ thread.
